According to the company, autoreplies powered by Meta AI are making it easier for merchants to respond to initial messages because they receive a lot of consumer queries.Sellers may now utilize Meta AI to automatically create responses to inquiries from buyers regarding an item's availability by utilizing details from their listing, including the item's description, availability, pickup location, and price.When creating a listing, sellers have the option to activate, preview, and modify these auto-replies. This new function is intended to solve a common problem for sellers, who frequently do not want to spend a lot of time answering initial or repetitive communications, including inquiring about an item's availability when it has already been designated as such.In order to address these preliminary questions from potential purchasers, one seller even developed their own AI tool last year. Additionally, Facebook Marketplace now uses Meta AI to enable vendors to display their products automatically.Meta AI can generate a draft listing, complete the contents, and recommend a price based on comparable things in the vicinity after an image of an item is uploaded. Additionally, buyers will now receive an overview of a seller's Facebook profile at the top of their Marketplace page, which includes information about how many friends they have and how long they have been on the platform.A synopsis of their Marketplace activities, including listing history, product categories, and seller ratings, is also shown in the overview. The tool was initially introduced in December in a few nations, including Sweden, Chile, Malaysia, and Kenya, by the corporation, which has more than 450 million users.Truecaller stated that it chose to launch it globally, including in India, the company's largest market, after observing encouraging outcomes. Even without a paid Truecaller plan, users can still form groups using this free function. This feature allows a techsavvy family member or friend to take on the role of group administrator for up to five members.The administrator can receive notifications regarding possibly fraudulent calls that new members receive once they join the group.The administrator has the ability to terminate the call remotely if they think the member might be harmed.The administrator can only terminate calls for members using Android, but they can receive notifications for fraudulent calls when a member is using iOS or Android. Members on Android can also give the administrator access to realtime activity detection, including driving or walking, battery level, and phone sound settings (to determine whether the phone is in silent mode).According to Truecaller, this helps administrators monitor senior members and only contact them when they are not driving or walking. Additionally, the administrator can share a blocklist with group members and block specific numbers and international calling codes. Truecaller observed that group members' non-spam call and SMS histories are hidden from the administrator. Kunal Dua, chief product officer at Truecaller, told TechCrunch over the phone, "I think, sadly, all of us know somebody or another in our families or friends who have been harmed by fraud.He continued, "In that regard, it is a fundamental shift for Truecaller in terms of what we have been concentrating on as a concern. An AI assistant that listens for calls while a user is not accessible and summarizes the transcript was added to Truecaller's voicemail feature for Indian users last year.In order to potentially notify the administrator about the type of fraud call a group member is getting, the company is investigating a similar AI strategy for family protection. Additionally, the company is investigating the use of AI to screen calls and instantly disconnect them when specific terms linked to scams are identified, such as "digital arrest," a method used by con artists to pose as law enforcement officials in order to obtain information or money from call recipients. Scam calls have increased over time in India, resulting in financial losses all around the nation.Over 7.7 billion fraudulent calls were detected last year, according to Truecaller.Indian authorities have started a number of efforts, such as a contentious regulation known as SIM binding that may make it more difficult for apps like Telegram and WhatsApp to function. Truecaller is battling headwinds. Over the past 12 months, its stock has decreased by more than 80%. The corporation reported a 49% year-over-year decline in EBITDA, a measure of operating profitability, and a 31% decline in ad revenue in its Q4 2025 report.The Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) system in India, which shows the caller's name as registered with their phone carrier, is another issue the corporation is dealing with.Truecaller has argued that their platform goes further by providing community-based reports, and that simply showing a caller's name will not cut down on spam calls. During the Q4 2025 earnings call, Truecaller CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala stated, "There has been significant talk regarding the forthcoming rollout of CNAP in India.CNAP is only partially implemented, and its influence on our user growth has been minimal thus far.As we have previously stated, we anticipate that CNAP may have some effect on user growth; however, this is still to be determined until CNAP is fully implemented. Our focus continues to be on offering a great product, and as you are aware, the user may choose to have CNAP and Truecaller in parallel, where we provide a lot more information and a lot more context and different other options, for the consumer," Jhunjhunwala continued.
