Uber is most likely perceived by customers as a meal delivery and ridehailing service. However, according to CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber is essentially just a massive code base with engineers who are “actually the builders of the firm.Uber’s engineers have even gone so far as to replace Khosrowshahi with a chatbot that will pose queries in advance of meetings with upper management.
In an interview this week, Khosrowshahi stated as much on Steven Bartlett’s podcast, The Diary of a CEO.
Khosrowshahi stated on the podcast, “One of my team members told me that some teams have constructed a Dara AI, so that they basically do the presentation to the Dara AI as a rehearsal for making a presentation to me.Because you can imagine that by the time something reaches me, the slide deck has been meticulously polished and prepared. Dara AI is used to fine-tune their preparation.
This information was previously revealed by Business Insider.
According to Khosrowshahi, over 90% of Uber’s software developers use AI in their work, and roughly 30% are “power users” of the technology, radically altering the company’s architecture.
They are architects who are kind of thinking about what the system should look like, and they are manufacturing the bricks that go into the system,” he stated.
“It is truly altering their output in a manner that I have never witnessed before,” Khosrowshahi continued.
