Google Makes It Easier To Edit Drive Videos With A New Vids Shortcut Button

Google said on Friday that it is adding a new shortcut button for Vids, the tech giant’s AI-powered video-creation tool, to improve the editing experience for Drive videos.

Workspace users may now start a video edit with Vids straight from the Google Drive interface thanks to the new capability. Users will now notice a “Open” button in the upper right corner of Drive when they are previewing a video, which will launch the video in the Vids app. Vids will start the video file immediately, enabling you to make additional adjustments like cutting the film or adding text and music.

The business appears to be integrating the app more tightly with Google’s Workspace suite, as evidenced by this new shortcut that is activated by default. With features like the ability to create videos from simple text prompts, automatically write scripts, rearrange video clips, add transitions, and more, Vids was introduced last year with the goal of simplifying the video production process.

This follows the company’s May launch of another Gemini AI tool for Workspace users that enables them to use AI to compile Google Drive video clips.
