This week, YouTube revealed that it will now delay advertisements during livestreams when chat participation is at its highest and when fans demonstrate support by purchasing gifts, Super Chat, or Super Stickers. Up until recently, purchasing a YouTube Premium subscription was the only way to avoid seeing advertisements.
In a blog post, the Google-owned platform stated that it wanted to “preserve that communal vibe” when a discussion explodes with enthusiasm. YouTube will automatically hold back adverts for everyone when its technology detects a high level of engagement.
According to the corporation, the purpose of this adjustment is to assist creators in keeping viewers’ attention without being interrupted by advertisements.
On the other hand, a fan will receive a personal ad-free window immediately following their purchase if they support the brand with Super Chat, Super Stickers, or gifts. For comparison, Super Stickers are pictures that users can buy to make their messages stand out in conversations, while Super Chat lets viewers pay to emphasize their words.
Along with other upgrades for live creators, YouTube revealed these modifications. The company revealed that since presents are now available in Canada, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand, more creators worldwide are now qualified to receive gifts from viewers.
Furthermore, viewers can now send GIFs straight from their mobile devices to creators’ horizontal livestreams, not just vertical ones.
Additionally, YouTube revealed that creators can now simultaneously go live in both vertical and horizontal forms, allowing all viewers to participate in a single shared discussion. Since connected TVs accounted for more than 30% of live viewing time in the United States in 2025, the business wants producers to be able to tailor their streams for a variety of screens.
The action was taken a few days after YouTube increased the cost of YouTube Premium subscriptions in the United States. The YouTube Premium family plan will jump from $22.99 to $26.99 per month, while the solo plan will go from $13.99 to $15.99.
